So those opting for a gear lube thinking that they are using thicker oil, really are not. Those using an 80W or 75W-90 in their transmissions are actually using a much thinner oil. WebJul 24, 2014 · If you use Harley Davidson branded oil in the dino flavor, it uses 20w50 in the crankcase. It uses a different oil for the tranny and primary case. If you use the Harley syn3 you can use that one oil in all 3 holes. So it really depends on what oil you select to buy.

Use the socket wrench and T27 Torque bit for removing the cover. Use the tools to loosen up the five screws. Remember to keep the screws somewhere safe. WebDec 11, 2010 · My 2004 road glide calls for 32oz. in the primary and 20-24 oz. in the tranny. The bike should be upright and level to check tranny fluid. As Smitty said, just add the recommended amount in the primary.

The level should come up to the bottom of the clutch basket with bike level. You'll probably need a flashlight to see down in there. My '09 twin cam takes 38 oz. to fill after draining for fluid change.
