The PFMLA is especially strict on this, and states that any negative action taken within six months of asking for or taking leave under its terms will be presumed retaliatory. I've had no way to specify the usage of sick time, nor the ability to clarify what my unscheduled PTO is being used for except for speaking to the person on the phone. The policy with company states we must speak to a live person over the phone when calling out.
